Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 35 years
  • Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India and NABARD rules for reserved categories.

Pay Scale, Salary & Benefits – NABARD Development Assistant 2026

(i) Pay Scale

Selected candidates will draw a starting basic pay of ₹23,100/- per month (including two advance increments) in the following pay scale:

₹20,700 (1) – 1,200 (3) – ₹24,300 – 1,440 (4) – ₹30,060 –
1,920 (6) – ₹41,580 – 2,080 (2) – ₹45,740 –
2,370 (3) – ₹52,850 – 2,850 (1) – ₹55,700 (20 years)

In addition to basic pay, candidates will be entitled to various allowances such as:

  • Dearness Allowance (DA)
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA)
  • City Compensatory Allowance (CCA)
  • Transport Allowance
    and other allowances as admissible from time to time.

At present, the initial gross monthly emoluments are approximately ₹46,500/- for Development Assistant / Development Assistant (Hindi).

(ii) Perquisites & Allowances

Selected candidates will also be eligible for the following perquisites, subject to NABARD rules:

  • NABARD residential accommodation (subject to availability)
  • Reimbursement of petrol expenses for official vehicle use
  • Briefcase and Knowledge Updation Allowance
  • Furnishing Allowance for residence

Important Notes

  • Applications submitted without the prescribed application fee / intimation charges will be summarily rejected.
  • NABARD staff candidates who meet the educational qualification criteria are eligible to apply.
  • Fee/intimation charges paid by eligible NABARD staff candidates will be reimbursed upon submission of fee receipt, subject to verification at the time of interview.

Selection Process


The final selection for the NABARD Development Assistant post will be made through a state-wise merit list. Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be considered for final selection. Only the marks secured in the Main Examination (Phase-II), including both the Objective Test and Descriptive Test, will be counted while preparing the final merit list.

Tie-Breaking Criteria:
In case two or more candidates obtain equal aggregate marks in the Main Examination, the tie will be resolved by giving preference to the candidate with a higher educational qualification. If the tie still persists, the candidate with higher marks in graduation will be considered, and if required, the older candidate will be given preference.

Wait List:
A wait list up to 50% of the total vacancies (state-category wise), subject to a minimum of three candidates, will be maintained. Candidates from the wait list will be considered only in case of non-joining of candidates from the main select list. The wait list will remain valid for one year from the date of approval of the select list or until the declaration of results of the next recruitment, whichever is earlier.

Medical Fitness:
The appointment of selected candidates will be subject to being declared medically fit in accordance with the medical standards and rules prescribed by NABARD.
